FACTORS INFLUENCING THE DEVELOPMENT OF WUSHU FOR EXCELLENCE IN JIANGSU PROVINCE, CHINA

In recent years, wushu for excellence in Jiangsu Province, China, has drawn increasing academic and policy attention in the context of sports governance reform and traditional culture development. The purpose of this study is: (1) To study the current situation the development of wushu for excellence in Jiangsu province, China; (2) To analyze the positive factors influencing the development of wushu for excellence in Jiangsu province, China; (3) To find approach development of wushu for excellence in Jiangsu province, China. This study adopted a mixed-method research design. First, structured in-depth interviews with 15 experts were conducted to examine the current development situation. Second, quantitative data were collected through 420 valid questionnaires and analyzed using statistic software to construct and test a Structural Equation Model (SEM) with five hypotheses. Finally, focus group discussions with 11 experts were carried out to verify the empirical results and further explore development approaches. The results indicate that the current development of wushu for excellence in Jiangsu Province is supported by existing governance frameworks but faces challenges related to regional imbalance, limited market integration, uneven policy implementation, and reserve talent continuity. Quantitative analysis confirms that government functions and policy implementation, social identity and cultural inheritance, economic input and resource allocation, market mechanism and capital input, and reserve talent management all have significant positive effects on the development of wushu for excellence, with the structural model demonstrating satisfactory reliability, validity, explanatory power, and predictive relevance. Based on expert consultation, a development-oriented approach is proposed, emphasizing policy guidance, cultural foundations, rational resource allocation, regulated market participation, and systematic reserve talent management to support sustainable development. By integrating governance, cultural, economic, market, and talent dimensions, this study provides an analytical framework and practical reference for promoting the sustainable development of wushu for excellence in Jiangsu Province, China.
