DESAFIOS E POTENCIALIDADES DA AGRICULTURA URBANA PARA A SEGURANÇA ALIMENTAR NA RMB

A Agricultura Urbana (AU), além de reforçar a soberania alimentar e preservar os ecossistemas, configura-se como alternativa sustentável para enfrentar os problemas que o crescimento urbano impõe à segurança alimentar. Este estudo objetivou analisar as contribuições da AU para a segurança alimentar e nutricional e identificar seus desafios nos aspectos técnico, de recursos, econômico, social e ambiental em três municípios da Região Metropolitana de Belém (RMB). Empregou-se uma análise fatorial multivariada (AFM) por meio de questionários em escala Likert com 47 critérios organizados em 7 seções, aplicados a 120 produtores, combinando observação participante, no período de novembro de 2023 a fevereiro de 2024. Entre os achados, destacou‑se em primeiro lugar, com média de 4,72, a afirmação de que a atividade assegura segurança alimentar e nutricional; em segundo lugar, com média de 4,66, a constatação de que a venda do excedente evitou redução do consumo para poupar alimentos. Em terceiro lugar, com 4,63, houve redução da apreensão quanto à escassez de alimento antes de nova compra. A atividade configura-se como um instrumento eficiente para o desenvolvimento sustentável, porém carece do incentivo de políticas públicas que assegurem aquisição de sementes e titulação da terra para seu avanço.
