Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between university students’ understanding of Pancasila values and their civic responsibility in the digital era. The research is grounded in the increasing intensity of digital engagement among students, which is not always accompanied by responsible behavior and awareness of national values. A quantitative approach was employed using a questionnaire administered to 100 university students, consisting of 14 items measuring understanding of Pancasila values and 13 items assessing digital civic responsibility. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 27.0 through reliability testing, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, analysis of variance (ANOVA), t-tests, and simple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate that both instruments demonstrated high reliability (α for Pancasila values = 0.942; α for Digital Responsibility = 0.912). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between understanding of Pancasila values and digital responsibility (r=0.637; p < 0.001). Furthermore, linear regression analysis demonstrated that understanding of Pancasila values significantly predicts digital responsibility, explaining 41.2% of the variance (R² = 0.412). The ANOVA results indicated no significant differences in digital responsibility across categories of internet usage duration, while the gender-based t-test results were inconclusive due to unequal categories. These findings underscore the importance of integrating Pancasila values education with digital literacy programs in higher education as a strategic effort to foster responsible digital citizenship and strengthen national character in the digital sphere.
