Abstract

Environmental issues have been gradually acquiring importance in the Brazilian legislation. An environmental stance inclusion and a sustainable development conception resemble the need for discussions concerning consumerism, œpost-modernity, waste production and Brazilian citizen™s new posture. At the same time, contemporary society is perceived as consumerist, defining desire as its cornerstone and relying on concepts of insatiability and permanent pursuit for new objectives. According to the postmodern bias, current society shapes citizens in order to perform the role of consumers. As a consequence, consumerism™s high standards trigger an alarming waste output, whereas the study of concepts on such topict, current legislation and society™s behavior towards a recent national waste policy becomes fundamental so that proposals submitted by the legislator regarding solid waste management can be better comprehended.

Caroline Rossatto Stefani, Universidade de Caxias do Sul

Atualmente é Mestranda em Direito Ambiental e Sociedade pela Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), Representante Discente e Bolsista CAPES; Membro do Grupo de Pesquisa Jurisdição, Ambiente e Direitos Fundamentais - ALFAJUS-UCS/CNPq ( alfajus.blogspot.com.br ); e Membro do corpo editorial da Revista Direito Ambiental e Sociedade, ISSN 2237-0021. Graduada em Direito pela Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos - UNISINOS (2004). Especialista em Direito Processual pela Universidade de Caxias do Sul - UCS (2008). Dedicou-se à advocacia privada no período de 2006 a 2013, nas áreas cível e trabalhista.

Carlos Alberto Lunelli, UCS

Possui Doutorado em Direito e Mestrado em Direito Público pela Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade de Caxias do Sul, no Mestrado em Direito, ministrando a disciplina Tutela Jurisdicional do Ambiente. No Curso de Direito, ministra a disciplina de Direito Processual Civil. Tem experiência na área de Direito, com ênfase em Direito Processual Civil, atuando principalmente nas seguintes áreas: Direito Processual Civil, Direito Ambiental, Processo Constitucional e Políticas Públicas.
