Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper analyzes the environmental implications arising from the culture of segregational urbanization, focusing on the context of the Montes Claros Master Plan. A brief historical overview of the city is presented, addressing its population growth and urban expansion over time. Subsequently, the characteristics of segregational urbanization are discussed. Later, the Montes Claros Master Plan is explored as an urban management tool, highlighting its objectives and guidelines. A qualitative research approach is employed, which deems it crucial for the Montes Claros Master Plan to adequately address the issue of urban segregation and promote more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable urbanization. This necessitates the implementation of urban planning policies that consider environmental preservation, accessibility to essential and sustainable services, and community participation. Only through these means can the environmental impacts of segregational urbanization be mitigated, fostering a harmonious urban environment and enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Montes Claros.
