O conceito de racismo configuracional é utilizado no presente artigo na tentativa de explicitar um fenômeno complexo. Argumenta-se que o racismo perpassa escolhas cotidianas, formas de sociabilidade e padrões de aproximação e distanciamento social entre indivíduos. Propõe-se uma crítica às leituras eminentemente estruturais do racismo, em busca de uma perspectiva integrada ou sintética, capaz de combinar, simultaneamente, percepções fenotípicas, práticas simbólicas e condições materiais. O conceito de raciabilidade é utilizado no sentido de evidenciar como indivíduos são situados racialmente em diferentes configurações contextuais, o que afeta as interações sociais e as oportunidades na vida. Assim, o racismo é compreendido como uma configuração dinâmica entre subjetividades, relações sociais e sistemas de poder.
