Abstract

Atualmente a humanidade vem se preocupando sempre mais com a necessidade da preservação do meio ambiente. Tal urgência de preservação decorre da deterioração da natureza e do seu uso sem medidas e imprudente. Nesse sentido, este trabalho analisa como ocorreu a relação do homem com o meio ambiente até o despertar para a necessidade de preservar. Considera a crítica que o Direito Ambiental faz à tradicional visão antropocêntrica que coloca o homem como o centro de toda a natureza, e enfoca também a teoria que faz oposição a esta, o biocentrismo. Analisa, também, a crise ambiental e seus reflexos e de que maneira a ecologia jurídica ou o Direito, pela sua tutela, poderá proteger ou contribuir para a preservação do meio ambiente.
