Abstract

The study of bioethics regarding animal testing serves as a guide for professionals in the medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields and reinforces the understanding of the subject. In this context, this study aims to analyze the role of bioethics in studies with animals as test subjects in cosmetic companies in Brazil, and how the change in society perspective impacts the industry. More specifically, the study focuses on how there has already been such a significant impact that thousands of companies have started using cruelty-free labels on their packaging and websites, affirming their commitment to eradicate the use of animals for such purposes. This is a descriptive-qualitative and bibliographical research based on an inductive method. As a result, it was possible to diagnose a change in the general policy of companies and their methods of security verification and investment in alternative technology, a result that can be attributed to social pressure and mobilizations aimed at ensuring a more sustainable future, without animal testing.
