Abstract

O hipertireoidismo felino (FHT) é a endocrinopatia mais comum em gatos idosos, resultando em hipermetabolismo sistêmico com graves repercussões cardiovasculares e renais. Este estudo revisa a eficácia da tireoidectomia bilateral como alternativa curativa, discutindo técnicas para preservação das glândulas paratireoides e mitigação de complicações como o hipoparatireoidismo iatrogênico e o desmascaramento da doença renal crônica. A intervenção cirúrgica demonstra superioridade na sobrevida global e menores taxas de recorrência comparada ao manejo farmacológico, promovendo remodelamento cardíaco reverso significativo.
