DETERMINANTES DE SALUD MENTAL Y SU IMPACTO EN EL RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO EN UNA UNIVERSIDAD DEL PERÚ

Objetivos: Evaluar de qué manera el estrés académico, los niveles de depresión y variables sociodemográficas intervienen en el desempeño escolar de los estudiantes pertenecientes a la Facultad de Ciencias Matemáticas de la UNMSM. Metodología: Investigación de alcance cuantitativo, correlacional y transversal. Se administró una encuesta basada en los inventarios de Beck y SISCO a una muestra probabilística estratificada de alumnos matriculados en el periodo 2017-II. El procesamiento de los datos se efectuó a través de herramientas estadísticas multivariantes, específicamente modelos de regresión logística binaria múltiple y el estadístico T2 de Hotelling. Resultados: Los análisis demostraron que la depresión constituye la variable psicológica con mayor incidencia predictiva y directa sobre la condición del rendimiento escolar de los evaluados. Asimismo, se comprobaron discrepancias estadísticas significativas en el comportamiento de las dimensiones del estrés académico al contrastar los resultados por género. Conclusiones: El bienestar psicológico es un componente crítico para asegurar el éxito educativo en el nivel superior. El impacto de la depresión y la manifestación diferenciada del estrés según el sexo respaldan la urgencia de fortalecer los sistemas institucionales de tutoría y acompañamiento psicológico preventivo.
