SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR PRACTICES IN SOCIAL MEDIA: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

This study aims to map the development of research and scholarly publications concerning the sexual behaviour of college students on social media A systematic literature review approach was employed to analyze 315 selected scholarly articles following the PRISMA procedure. These articles were sourced from the Scopus database, published between 2021 and 2024, and analysed using VOSviewer. The study revealed three topic clusters in the examination of sexual behaviour on social media, namely: (#1) Higher Education, (#2) Sexual Behaviour, and (#3) Social Media. The “Medium” cluster was found to be the most dominant compared to the other clusters, indicating that the medium is a general concept used in studies on social behaviour on social media. This cluster is associated with various issues in the other clusters, including sexual desire and young people This study contributes to advancing sociological studies within the field of social pathology in the digital era. A key limitation of this study is that the data were sourced exclusively from the Scopus database, which means the findings do not comprehensively represent studies on sexual behaviour on social media. Consequently, future research should incorporate data or references from various reputable databases, such as Web of Science and EBSCO.
